After enjoying a slew of international fashion weeks at the beginning of each year, Australians are rewarded for their patience when the fashion world comes to us in the form of the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (henceforth known as VAMFF).
The annual 10-day event sees the arrival of major celebrity guests (hello, Ashley Graham) and round-the-clock shows that set the tone for how we will dress over the coming season.
But one of the best parts of VAMFF is the onslaught of local street style that we can channel immediately because there's no seasonal limitation to shopping each piece.
It's also great for localised takes on international trends, like Nadia Bartel channelling Gigi Hadid's Off-white short-suit moment in a camel-coloured Dion Lee set.
Or an Acler-clad Elyse Knowles championing the ultimate 'lazy girl' hair trend, wearing her blonde locks tousled and tucked into her collar. That's one way to save on hair styling time.
To capture Australian fashionistas in full flight, street style photographer Danielle Castano hit the streets of Melbourne for ELLE to catalogue the best outfits on offer.
