Room Reveal Week 5!

Another big week for house number 5 at The Block! For those of you familiar with Melbourne, you’ll appreciate the need for warm, cosy interior spaces to hide away from the chill. Josh and I have had experience in this department with our own home – so we had a few ideas. And of course an epic fire place was at the heart of our plans.

Laying the concrete for our fireplace/bench proved to be a little tricky with a couple of set backs but thanks for Josh’s clever ideas to speed the process up – we got it done in the nick of time! The fireplace sits in heart of the room & is surrounded in leathery, wooly & earthy goodness! The room is designed to both relax & entertain with family and friends. This is made possible with out gigantic, yummy couch & the more sophisticated dining table. Multi use space – tick tick!

This week I’ve styled the room with lots of layered throws & cushions to make sure it feels homely. Tassles, patterns and varying textures definitely worked well in the room & thank god the judges agreed! Melbourne is full of lush green goodness because of the climate. Josh and I love to bring inside where possible using potted plants and hanging plants. Bringing the outdoor elements inside gives a home a pop of vibrancy and life so we will defiantly continue to do this in future rooms. Plants can change the entire feel of a room, so we highly recommend this styling tip at home. And the best thing - it’s a cheap and cheerful interior trick!

We are stoked with the draw win this week! Very happy the hard work & long hours paid off. Exhausted now but ready for Week 6! Bring it on!
